Introduction

The oldest museum in Cairo , Egypt was opened in 1835. it was very big . There more more than 160.000 of Egypt's most valuable historical treasures of the the ancient Egyptians. These treasure were on display for visitors from all over the world. it's really important to visit it when you visit Egypt. It will be hard to miss watching these valuable treasure which you can't see at any other places on the world. The ancient Egyptians were clever at many differ net fields of life: culture , building, medicine , engineering and culture.

Why Egypt built the Grand Egyptian Museum?

Although the oldest museum in Cairo has a lot of valuable treasures, it hasn't a space for 100.000 other important historical objects from ancient Egyptians monuments. So The Egyptian Government started a competition for architects to design a new bigger and more modern museum. More than 1.557 designers from more than 80 countries took part in the competition. The museum was built on a vast area of land ,nearly 117 acres.

The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM)  started in May, 2005 and welcomed its first visitors in 2019. Although it is farther than from the oldest museum in Cairo, it is very near from the pyramids. Only two kilometres from the Giza Pyramids. It is really different from the oldest museum in cairo.

The Grand Egyptian Museum is very important because:

• It has more space for valuable treasures of the Ancient Egyptian Civilization.
• It is bigger and more modern than the oldest museum.
• It was designed by the best designers so it has a wonderful style.
• a lot of valuable objects were moved from the oldest museum into it,
• 100,000 objects are being restored to be displayed in the GEM
• King Ramses was put in the GEM’s entrance to welcome the visitors of the museum.
• Attracts tourists from all over the world.

One of the most wonderful parts of the museum is the entrance of the museum, with its big plants and statues. Also , The Egyptian government moved objects from the oldest museum in Tahrir to the Grand Egyptian Museum. Moving these objects is not easy , but it is expected to take many years of hard work. It has a lot of important statues . The biggest statues is that of Ramses II , which is twelve metres high.

Although we are in the age of speed technology and the internet, it is still essential to have museums to be able to know the history and habits of ancient ancestors. You can imagine the majesty of our ancestors such as building the pyramids and the sphinx.

Most people probably ate small birds and fish. Milk and cheese were also eaten. Only the rich people ate meat from larger animals, although meat was probably eaten on special days even by poor people. Archaeologists now think that their diet was so good that it helped ancient Egypt to become successful and powerful.
